OUR FORMULATION - OUR INGREDIENTS

The synergistic blend of plant extracts in Donna-Klare products has been formulated to provide deep moisturising effects on the skin, with delightful and inspiring fragrances. No synthetic chemicals, stabilisers, colours or fragrances are used.

HYDROSOLS

Rich in water-soluble constituents, these waters are produced by the steam distillation of fresh herbs and plants.

Geranium

The hydrosol of geranium is known for its antibacterial properties. It is a natural moisturiser, and also helps to tighten and tone the skin, and reduce oiliness.

German chamomile

Over the centuries, german chamomile has been used to support healthy sleep patterns, digestion, and skin function.

 

Lavender

The medicinal use of lavender dates back to ancient Egypt. Its constituents may support calmness and wellness.


Roman chamomile

Has a soothing, calming, and moisturising effect on the skin, helping to reduce irritation.

 

Rose

Extracts of rose assist people to feel good, and may be effective against a range of microbes that cause infections.

COLD-PRESSED CARRIER OILS

Carrier oils form part of the base cream. They provide an effective and safe medium for delivering active plant substances, as well as performing moisturising and restorative functions.

Abyssinian seed

An effective moisturiser that helps to improve skin tone, remove hyper-pigmentation, and smooth wrinkles.
 

Apricot kernel

Apricot kernel oil is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. It absorbs readily into the skin, and has a slightly sweet, nutty fragrance.
 

Argan seed

With high levels of fatty acids and vitamin E, argan seed oil helps to moisturise flaky, dry skin.

Avocado

Rich in substances that can help to calm, nourish and moisturise skin, and support collagen production.
 

Chia seed

The oil from chia seeds absorbs quickly into the skin, where its antioxidant and hydrating properties contribute to giving the skin a youthful glow.l

Jojoba

Jojoba oil has a delicate, nutty aroma, with strong moisturising properties. It is believed to closely imitate the skin’s natural oil.

Meadowfoam seed

Excellent antioxidant and skin softener that can provide protection from the elements.

Moringa

Soothing all-round oil that works well with other ingredients. Benefits all skin types, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and promoting beauty.
 

Rosehip seed

Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamin A, rosehip seed oil helps to balance skin tone and reduce the appearance of scars.

Sweet almond

Sweet almond oil has a strong, nutty scent. It’s a lightweight oil that absorbs easily, and is an excellent moisturiser for dry skin.

ESSENTIAL OILS

We use the highest grade essential oils sourced from qualified local suppliers. The oils are carefully formulated into our moisturising creams for efficacy and safety.

Black pepper

The high concentration of beneficial plant compounds in black pepper was recognised in ancient Ayurvedic medicine. The essential oil is believed to have potent antioxidant properties.
 

Carrot seed

Research has shown that carrot seed oil may have antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties.
 

Frankincense

Made from the resin of the Boswellia tree, frankincense has been used in Ayurvedic medicine to provide a range of health benefits.

Geranium

Overseas research has identified that geranium essential oil possesses antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, and may be effective in protecting the skin when applied topically.
 

Helichrysum

Helichrysum is commonly used as a traditional medicine in southern Europe and the Mediterranean, where it grows. It reportedly has antifungal and antibacterial properties.
 

Hyssop

Hyssop essential oil has a purifying aroma that is minty and flowery. It has been found to impart antioxidant, antimicrobial, and uplifting benefits.

Lavender

The medicinal use of lavender dates back to ancient Egypt. Its constituents may support calmness and wellness. 
 

Myrrh

Myrrh comes from the dried sap of a thornbush, and has long been used in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine as an antibacterial, and to support the general health of the skin.

Patchouli

Patchouli has a characteristic woody, spicy, and sweet aroma. 
 

Petitgrain

Derived from the foliage of the bitter orange tree, petitgrain has relaxing effects, is an antiseptic, and cleanses and soothes the complexion.
 

Rose

According to research, the essential oil distilled from the rose plant has a wide range of potential benefits. Some of these are the result of its antifungal and antibacterial properties, and it can also help people to feel more at ease.

Sandalwood

Sandalwood oil has a calming fragrance, and its chemical attributes can help to protect the skin.
 

Spikenard

Spikenard has been used for centuries for health, beauty, and religious purposes. It’s a highly prized perfume said to have antibacterial properties.
 

Vetiver

The essential oil of the aromatic plant Vetiveria zizanioides has been shown to have antioxidant properties in studies conducted offshore.

HYDROETHANALIC EXTRACTS

These herbs are processed by crushing and soaking in ethanol. The resulting extract is then adjusted to a specific proportion with distilled water.

Chicory root

Excellent for soothing and calming skin, and helps to boost collagen, promoting suppleness and reducing wrinkles.
 

Comfrey root

The root of the comfrey shrub contains substances that may support healthy skin. We recommend that topical creams containing comfrey should not be used on open wounds.
 

Horsetail

Equisetum is traditionally considered to be a medicinal plant with a variety of uses. Its silica content has cleansing and aesthetic effects which may benefit the skin.
 

Gotu kola

A mainstay in Chinese, Indonesian, and Ayurvedic medicine, the terpenoids in gotu kola may help to support the skin’s natural healing abilities.
 

Kawakawa

Revered as a traditional remedy by Māori, kawakawa has a wide range of potential health benefits, including as an antimicrobial for the skin.
 

Marshmallow

Marshmallow root has been used as a folk remedy for thousands of years to support overall skin health. 
 

Meadowsweet

Meadowsweet is a wildflower with an almond scent. Research has shown meadowsweet to have antibacterial and antioxidant properties, and salicylic acid – a well-known disinfectant.
 

Olive leaf

Nourishes, calms, and soothes the skin and helps to protect against the effects of weather and ageing. Also acts as an emulsifier.
